MBC Ladies crown golden weekend

Welcome to the Mowbray Bowling and Social Club.

MBC Ladies crown golden weekend

Mowbray’s dynamic Muter A side claimed the league honours on the weekend, one to remember for Mowbray Bowling Club.

Heading into the finale at Plumstead, the Muter A side – captained by Taz Bright – led by just a half a point from their hosts with Constantia, who were up against bottom of the table Milnerton, just three points behind. A 10-2 victory was more than enough to see Mowbray’s A side to the title.

The win marks a remarkable feat that saw Mowbray go from a fledgling ladies section who entered the second division a few years ago to the top side in the highest division.

Saturday’s heroics wasn’t the end of the road because Bright and Sylvia Burns were back in action in the WP Ladies Pairs, a title they were keen on defending.

They saw off teammates Elma Louw and Susan Weber on Sunday morning before going on a barn-storming run to the finale where they were too strong for their Gordon’s Bay opponents.

The good news was far from over for the club as the Ladies B side also gained promotion.

The men’s section had plenty of good news as well with the B side and D side both finishing on top of their respective divisions. They now face matches against Gordon’s Bay and Parow for the divisional titles.
